JEPO is a company owned by Finnish potato farmers, where responsibility is part of the culture and real actions. Sustainable practices and environmental awareness are core values of the company, which it is committed to promoting systematically and over the long term in all parts of the production chain.

Locally produced Finnish potatoes

JEPO potato products are made from Finnish potatoes. The potatoes are grown on contract farms near JEPO’s production facilities and further processed into raw and ripe potato products suitable for professional kitchens, respecting the raw material and the environment.

Contract farming is a guarantee of quality

Contract farming of potatoes is based on pre-agreed plans and quality criteria. JEPO’s crop advisors offer guidance and advice to farmers from the purchase of seed potatoes to the harvesting of potatoes. Some contract farmers are already in their third generation of growing potatoes, with long experience and expertise ensuring the quality of the potatoes.

We care for the environment

JEPO pays particular attention to minimising the climate impact of raw material sourcing, product manufacturing and transport. Finished products are transported in an optimised and fully loaded way to the wholesalers, thus reducing the carbon footprint of transport. In addition, the packaging materials of the products are recyclable.

Climate-friendly biogas

JEPO’s pre-cooked potato products are prepared using climate-friendly biogas. The peeling waste and potato cell liquid, which are by-products of the manufacturing process, are used as biogas feedstock and animal feed. This is a genuine contribution to the circular economy.

We carry out more than 6600 quality tests every year

JEPO carries out more than 6,600 quality tests annually during the growing season, during storage, before the products are put into circulation and on finished products. The ISO 22 000 quality certificate and the ISO 14001 environmental certificate awarded to JEPO’s production facilities are proof of the company’s committed and systematic approach to quality and environmental issues. Regular audits ensure that operations are constantly reviewed, evaluated and improved.

We promote sustainable choices

Active dialogue with customers and other stakeholders is the cornerstone of JEPO’s work. The common objective is to promote sustainable and healthy food choices, to enhance the value of domestic food and to ensure security of supply. The use of sustainably produced, ready-to-use JEPO potato products supports the climate goals of professional kitchens by helping to reduce the climate impact of food preparation and effectively manage
food waste.

Keeping the countryside vibrant

JEPO promotes well-being by taking responsible care of its employees, working conditions and profitability. Potato contract farming and further processing bring employment and tax revenue to Finland and create jobs in rural areas directly and indirectly, which helps to keep rural areas vibrant. JEPO’s strong balance sheet allows for stability and development even in poorer harvest years. JEPO promotes local well-being and fosters the cultural heritage of potato farming in the Ostrobothnia region.
